At ADAU, three new grape varieties: "Table variety of Bayan Shirey", "Amber", "Dark-leaved Tabrizi"

At the Azerbaijan State Agricultural University (ADAU), three new grape varieties: table variety of Bayanshirey, Amber and Dark-Leaved Tabrizi, have been regionalized and registered in the state register.

İn Ganja-Gazakh region, seedlings of these varieties are planted and grown. All 3 varieties are individually selected from 13-year vineyards.

Sevil Abdulaliyeva, an associate professor of ADAU, said that these varieties differ from other grape varieties by their pest resistance and productivity.

“The amber variety belongs to the group of eastern table grapes. Resistance to disease and pests is 2-3 points for mildew, 1-2 points for oidium. The difference from Italian varieties is the absence of nutmeg on ampelographic images. Although the presence of nutmeg gives the variety a high quality, it serves to increase diversity. At the same time, the fragility of the bunch comb is weak, which is one of the main features of table varieties", Abdulaliyeva said.

The expert also said that the obtained varieties differ from others in terms of structure, color and shape, as well as make them more convenient to store, more resistant to transportation and storage. ”

The table variety of Bayan Shirey is a late-ripening table grape variety, which has a very high productivity and should be grown on a trellis system. Resistance to disease and pests is 2-2.5 points for mildew, 1-2 points for oidium. In ampelographic descriptions it differs from the main variety by being completely table-oriented.
